There are many Gardens

Part of my ancestory is from Africa. I am not sure where, but that is a devotional for another day. They cleared the land, planted crops, and cultivated gardens to raise food for their families. This agrarian behavior has been passed down through the generations.master-olt027

My dad born in Georgia, grew up in Southwest New Jersey gardening, which may explain why I love gardening and the smell of fertile soil. Cultivating plants that bear beautiful fruit and tending to their bounty which fragrantly grace our yard with beauty are enjoyable pastimes. If it weren’t for the occasional weeds it would be wonderful!

When I have to wrestle with the weeds, I am reminded of the garden of Eden; it was a perfect garden until Adam and Eve disobeyed God and thorns and thistles became a reality for them and every gardener since then (Gen. 3:17-18).

The Bible also mentions another garden—the garden of Gethsemane where the Lord, in deep distress, pleaded with the Father to find another way to reverse sin’s consequences that were born in Eden.

Because the Lord surrendered in that garden, we now harvest the benefits of God’s amazing grace. May this lead us to surrender to God’s weeding of sin from our lives.

Truly, discovering God spiritual growth occurs when our faith is cultivated. When have you felt God’s spiritual growth being cultivated in our life? Please leave a comment, your share will certainly touch another. I will even write you back.

See you next Sunday.
