Count all the costs first

Luke 14: 28-30 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if there is enough money to pay the bills? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of funds. And then how everyone would laugh at you! They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and ran out of money before it was finished!’

Count the Costs - Mark Jackson[MJ]

Over the last few years of my life I have been responsible for completing single family real estate development projects. This beautiful scripture leaped off the page when I read it this past week. The passage itself has literally heighted my sense of accountability.

Equally, it wasn’t long ago we spent time with my youngest daughter preparing for college. Together we read the scripture and applied its principles to our efforts. We used a spreadsheet prepared by my wife to review several different colleges.

We calculated the transportation costs round trip 5 times per year to each school. This was just one additional details beyond just the tuition and book costs. Without looking at travel costs among clothing, snacks, art supplies, etc. where would we be?

Truly the Father through His precious son Jesus has given us all we need to live our lives. Through reading, studying and applying the scriptures fully in all aspects of our lives we honor our Saviour.

See you next Sunday,
