We all have room to Comeback

Numerous former American golfers have suffered multiple career-threatening injuries. Sometimes more than just once. These injuries force them to endure surgery, months of physical therapy, and weeks of training to get back onto the golf course. Yet, many times they not only return to playing but also excel at such a high level they are named Comeback Player of the Year as with players such as Steve Stricker, Stuart Appleby and even Tiger Woods. For these players, their efforts were an expression determination to return to competitvie golf. Snip20150628_14

Spiritually, when sin and failure break our relationship with God and sideline our service, determination alone is not what restores us to a life a with God and usefulness in the great kingdom. When we are sidelined because of sin, the path to a comeback is confession as well. “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.

For us to be able to recover from our spiritual failings, we are absolutely dependent on our gracious and merciful God. And that gives us hope. God loves us with an everlasting love and will respond with grace as we confess our faults to the Lord. Through confession, we can find God’s gracious restoration, truly the greatest of all comebacks.

Confession is the path which leads to complete restoration.

Truly, we see how God has provided a gracious means of cleansing us from our personal sins and reestablishing fellowship with God. Share when have you fallen away and made a comeback through confession to God. Leave a comment, your share will bless another. Plus, I will write you back.

See you next Sunday.
