Formula for success

Twisted looks and raised eye brows, sometimes this is my family’s reaction to my cooking, especially when I’m trying something new in the kitchen. Recently, I had a breakthrough working to duplicate my grandmother’s famous Fruit Cake. I now know the ingredients and recipe, which hidden away for the future. Without the new formula, I know the next batch could be a flop.

God has a recipe for our success.

Similarly, but more significant, without God’s instructions, Joshua would have failed at leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. The first step from God was to “be strong and of good courage” Josh. 1:6. Next, he was to continually meditate on the Book of the Law, and finally, he was to do everything it said. As long as Joshua followed the directions, God promised him “good success”.

We need to know God’s “recipe for success” can work for us too, but the Lord’s idea of success has practically nothing to do with money, popularity, or even good health. In the original Hebrew, “then you will have good success” means “then you will act wisely.” As God called Joshua to walk in wisdom, God in the bible for asks us to “walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise” Eph. 5:15.

Let us each take courage in the Lord, feast on the written Word, and obey the Lord, we have a formula for godly success that’s better than anything we could cook up on our own.

When has following God’s recipe for success been a blessings to you. Leave a comment, I’ll write you back.

See you next Sunday.
