I’ve been thinking about success lately. As I write, one of my good friends has launched a highly anticipated Internet Marketing Training. Recently, I learned that another close friend had been nominated for a National Sales Award in her field of Pharmaceuticals. Wow! 
Now depending on the Bible version you read, the word success shows up nearly fifty different times in the Scriptures. Some of those Bible verses state that it isn’t wrong to ask God for success. For example, if you read in Psalm 90:17, “May the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful.”
Truly the Father wants us to enjoy and rejoice in our accomplishments. Our achievements are a gift from Him, for His glory (Eccl 5:18-19). However, we must maintain a firm hold on our ego. As proof we can reference a certain King Uzziah. In 2 Chron. 26:6-16, it writes of his impressive achievements. But the reason for his success is found in verse 5: “As long as the king sought guidance from the Lord, God gave him success.”
Then silly ‘ole King Uzziah made the mistaking of not remembering God was the One who had helped and blessed him all along. This led to King Uzziah’s fatal end. God’s word puts it simply: “But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall”
Please be thoughtful on this point: Who gave you and me the skills that have allowed us to experience success? At times we have worked diligently. However, others have tried just as hard and didn’t make the grade. This leads to the realization that God deserves the credit for any success we may have. Let’s celebrate Him and remain humble when we taste success.
Success is not a bad thing at all, but the biggest thing is to give God the credit for it all.
