Time flies when you’re having fun

This cliché has no basis in fact, but experience makes it seem true.

When life is pleasant, time passes all too quickly. Give us a task we enjoy, or a person whose company we love, and time seems irrelevant.

Our experience of this “reality” is given a new understanding if we use the scene described in Revelation 4. In the past, if we considered the four living creatures seated around God’s throne who keep repeating the same few words, we might think, what a boring meaningless redundant existence!

Time flies when you are having fun in the Lord!
Time flies when you are having fun in the Lord!

However, with a more open view, we might just think differently. Think about the scenes these individuals witnessed with their own eyes. Consider the view they must have had from their position around God’s throne. Think of how amazed they would have been at God’s wise and loving involvement with such wayward lambs. I think, what better response could there be? What else is there to say but, “Time flies when you’re having fun”, especially at the feet of God?

Is it boring to say the same words over and over? Not when you’re in the presence of the one you love. Not when you’re doing exactly what you were designed to do.

Like these four, we were designed to glorify God. Our lives will never be boring if we’re focusing our attention on Him and fulfilling that purpose.

A heart in tune with God can’t help but sing His praise.

Truly, any time in the presence of God always seems to go to quickly. Share when have you felt time fly when having fun in the Lord. Leave a comment, your share will bless another. Plus, I will write you back.

See you next Sunday.
