Blessing and Glory and Honor

One of my father’s sisters, my Aunt Mattie was a wonderful woman. Her every action was a clear and definitive tribute to her love of God.

Once a year as my siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles gathered on Memorial Day weekend,  Aunt Mattie would offer a prayer. On one of these beautiful spring mornings she uttered as part of her prayer, “Thank you dear Lord for your grace and mercy; for without your grace and mercy where would we be ?”Snip20150816_21

What an absolutely profound prayer! How often do we consider the full grace and mercy which surrounds us daily, even moment to moment? We should count our blessings, constantly giving glory and honor to God for the free gifts of grace and mercy.

Truly, when we think about all God does for us, our loved ones near and far, no amount of praise could possibly acknowledge the greatness of the Lord. Frankly all blessings, glory and honor belong to God in heaven. We should be giving praises all day long to show some measure of thanks.

However you or I praise, let it flow freely from our hearts and minds. If we think about every thing God has done for us, we might clap our hands, gently pat our chest or raise our open hands to the heavens. Regardless of the act of praise, we shouldn’t for a moment feel even a simple “thank you Lord” wouldn’t be sufficient. God welcomes even our most modest gesture of gratitude.

As the scriptures share in Psalm 23:6 ”Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”

Truly, let us always be grateful for the grace and mercy of God, giving the Lord all blessings, glory and honor. Share when have you experienced the grace and mercy of the Lord. Leave a comment, your share will bless another. Plus, I will write you back.

See you next Sunday.
