We are never forgotten

Quite a few people in the country and some around the world know about Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. There the heads of former American presidents are carved in the cliff wall. However, while many know of this amazing work, hardly anyone knows of Doane Robinson. Robinson a state historian conceived the idea of the sculpture and actually managed the fourteen year project. The monument while admired for decades, Robinson is essentially the forgotten man behind the masterpiece. He remains largely unrecognized or not even known by many.

Who is Doane Robinson?

At times, in service to the Master, we may feel we have been forgotten or are behind the scenes and not recognized. A ministry of Discipleship can be a life of effort that often goes unappreciated by the very people we are seeking to serve in God’s name. The really good news, however, is that, while people may not know, God does. Heb 6:10 says, “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

God has made us a wonderful promise! We are never forgotten. Our heavenly God will never forget our service. This is infinitely more important than being applauded by an individual or even a crowd.

Let us bask in knowing service to please God is a greater reward than any public recognition. Please share a time you labored for God just to relish in silent joy. I promise to write you back.

See you next Sunday,

MJ
