All the pieces

Every so often, my computer gets sort of sluggish. Repeated use of specific software and documents causes pieces of data to become scattered, requiring the computer to search for the sorted pieces before I can use them. A while back, probably like you, to fix it, I discovered running a program that retrieves the pieces and groups them together where they are easily accessible. “Defragmentation”, is what the process is called.

Switching to us, like our computers, our lives at times get fragmented. One situation tugs on our emotions while we are trying to concentrate on something else. Demands from every direction bombard us. We desire to accomplish everything that needs to be done, but our minds won’t stop and our bodies won’t start. Soon we begin to feel weary and listless.

Well, recently my wife attended a retreat where one of the handouts included a prayer with words that expressed how we all could possible feel at times: “Lord, I am scattered, restless, and only half here.”

I found a passage where King David also experienced times of feeling scattered Ps. 55:2. In subtle prayer, David presented his needs to God in the morning, at midday, and in the evening, confident he would be heard v.17.
Prayer can help to defragment our lives. When we cast our cares on the Lord, He will show us what we need to do and what only He can do.

We need prayer the most when we have the least time to pray. Please share how God has helped you pull the pieces together. Leave a comment. I’ll write you back.

See you next Sunday
