Older will become Better

We know we’re getting up in age when we say, “Can you believe how young those professional golfers are?” Plus, it’s a real sign of getting older when we switch from a greeting of, “How are you?” but rather, “Wow, you look awesome” as if we’re surprised.

The days of the calendar are inevitable. Unfortunately, society has taught us to regret aging and to cover up its reality as much as possible. But aging is in fact a wonderful thing. Followers of our Lord have the capacity to get much better with age. Paul said, “Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” 2 Cor. 4:16.

As there are outward signs to reveal we’re getting older, there are signs that show we are getting better. Rather than being more grumpy, resistant and unpleasant, the maturing lover of God grows better at forgiving, loving, and caring. Growing older is an ongoing journey to be more like God, which means that as time goes on our heart and attitudes will resonate with and reflect the compelling character and warm ways of our Savior.

Let’s as we grow older, grow closer to our Lord.

See you next Sunday,

MJ
